The Vermont Jazz Center Archive
The Vermont Jazz Center Archive is a labor of love which has taken over 7 years from conception to realization. The VJC is grateful for the tireless input of dozens of volunteers, interns and professionals.
To best understand the structure of the archive best, envision it as a catch-all for all the documented events that have occurred under the auspices of the VJC since Attila Zoller began recording himself at gigs through the present day where our concert venue is outfitted with professional television-grade audio and video recording gear.
To structure it for use by aficionados and academics our team has divided our online offerings (digital assets) into 3 categories:
- Concert highlights
- Masterclass features
- Zoller Collection
Our in-house offerings of books and CDs our housed at the Vermont Jazz Center.
New materials will be made available every 4 months (three times a year) on our website portal. Interested parties should contact VJC Director, Eugene Uman to gain access to additional material. A full list of artists’ names, side-people, and the dates of their performances (most of which have been documented through recordings) can be found here.
Digital Assets
The VJC Archive is home to a treasure trove of historically significant video and audio recordings representing hundreds of hours of studio-quality concert videos and master-classes recorded primarily at our venue. Thanks to funds received from a CLIR grant (Council of Library and Information Resources), the VJC Archive houses over 160 hours of digitized files that were transferred from the original recordings made by VJC founder, Attila Zoller using reel-to-reel and cassette tapes. The digital archive also houses files transferred from VHS and DAT tapes of dozens of concerts from VJC’s early years.VJC in-house Jazz Library
